Detours for Moonee Ponds Creek Trail closures at Ormond Park and Mount Alexander Road.

Detour details

The Moonee Ponds Creek Trail is closed from Ormond Park to Fenton Street until May 2017. Cyclists and pedestrians can use the following detours:

Heading south using the Trail where possible

  1. Follow the Ormond Park access road to Pattison Street. 
  2. Turn left onto Pattison Street.
  3. At the traffic signals at the Ormond Road intersection, go straight ahead onto Myrnong Crescent.
  4. Turn left onto Fenton Street. You can rejoin the Trail at the end of this street. 

Heading south using Mooltan Street

  1. Follow the Ormond Park access road to Pattinson Street. 
  2. Turn left onto Pattinson Street.
  3. At the traffic signals at the Ormond Road intersection, go straight ahead onto Myrnong Crescent.
  4. Keep on Myrnong Crescent as it becomes Mooltan Street.
  5. Stay on Mooltan Street to Mount Alexander Road.
  6. Turn left onto Mount Alexander Road. 

Heading north using the Trail where possible 

  1. From Mount Alexander Road, turn right onto the Trail close to the ALT Tower Serviced Apartments.
  2. Turn left onto Fenton Street.
  3. Turn right onto Myrnong Crescent.
  4. At the traffic signals at the Ormond Road intersection, go straight ahead onto Pattison Street.
  5. Turn right onto the Ormond Park access road.
  6. Pick up the Trail just past the sports pavilion.

Heading north using Mooltan Street

  1. From Mount Alexander Road, turn right onto Mooltan Street.
  2. Keep on Mooltan Street as it becomes Myrnong Crescent.
  3. At the traffic signals at the Ormond Road intersection, go straight ahead onto Pattison Street.
  4. Turn right onto the Ormond Park access road.
  5. Pick up the Trail just past the sports pavilion.

Accessing the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail from Brunswick (west)

The entrance to the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail on Union Street is closed. 

If you are heading north, the nearest entrance to the Trail is off Pattison Street: 

  1. Continue north on Union Street. 
  2. Turn left onto Moonee Parade.
  3. At the end of Moonee Parade, stay on the pathway to Jewell Crescent.
  4. Keep on Jewell Crescent and turn left onto Dawson Street.
  5. Cross over the freeway onto Dean Street and turn left onto Branch Street.
  6. Turn right onto Vine Street.
  7. Turn left onto Pattison Street.
  8. The entrance to the Trail is on the right, just passed the turn-off to Dean Street.

If you are heading south, then you can take the north detour described above, or head for Ormond Road and follow the detour down Myrnong Crescent. 

An alternative route to the Capital City Trail is to:

  1. Head south on Gibson Avenue (off Brunswick Street).
  2. Turn left onto Park Street.
  3. Turn right onto Oak Street.
  4. Keep on Oak Street as it becomes Manningham Street.
  5. Pick up the Capital City Trail from Manningham Street.
